Carving out a space of your own is an absolute necessity for a homeschooling mom. You need a desk or a cabinet or even just a basket beside your favorite chair that is specifically yours--for your stuff. Label everything so that when you inevitably let your students borrow your pens, scissors, or calculator, you can be sure they don't keep them. (Can you tell I'm speaking from experience?)

I bought myself some pink and white "breast cancer awareness" Ticonderoga pencils. They're mine and everybody knows it. ;-)
