Mom's Tip of the Day #93

Mom's tip of the day

Make sure you and your spouse are the first to talk to your kids about sex. In doing this, you become the expert. Anything that anyone else says will forever be weighed against what Mom and Dad said first.

Thanks for the tip! What a good one. OK, here's my question...When do you talk to your kids about sex? What age? Or at least a general range? And I'm talking about the big talk, not all of the little conversations that lead up to the talk. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your "Mom's Tip of the Day". I love 'em!!

Hi Christy,

I don't think that the age of having the "Big Talk" is necessarily the same for each child. However, I do think that you need to have the biological, insert-tab-a-into-slot-b talk before they hear it from anyone else. I think a general range would be 2nd-4th grade for that one. And that would also depend on who they around, what kind of school they go to, and what is happening within your family (such as if there is someone they are close to who is pregnant).

Those little conversations that lead up to the talk are super important, just as the many, many conversations that follow. Hope that helps!

I'm so glad you are enjoying the Tips!
